Gansu Research Institute of Chemical Industry (GSRICI) is located in the capital of Gansu province--Lanzhou, a city is situated on the Yellow River which was called the mother river of China. The precursor of GSRICI was 214 Research Institute of No.5 Ministry of Machinery Industry of China, which was established in 1962. Approved by government of Gansu province, GSRICI was established in September 1984, the Institute became a market-oriented technical enterprise since 2006. GSRICI was registered as an enterprise in the management committee of Lanzhou Hi-Tech Industry Development District officially in July, 2011 and was awarded a “contract-abiding, trustworthy” enterprise at the same time. GSRICI is subordinate to The Science and Technology Bureau of Gansu province now, and is the only one important research institute of Gansu province for the development of chemical industry.

There are 180 employees in Gansu Research Institute of Chemical Industry now, 27 of them are technicians with senior titles, 29 are technicians with medium titles, 76 are technicians with primary titles, and 73% of staffs are professional technicians. These technicians are one expert who enjoy special government allowance, one leading personnel of Gansu province, one Executive director of CSEB, one expert of Blast equipment industry of MIIT of PRC, one expert of CSEB, one vice chairman of Engineering Blasting Industry Association of Gansu province, one vice chairman of Blast Equipment Industry Association of Gansu province, two antiterrorist & explosion-proof experts of Gansu province, one antiterrorist & anti-chemical expert of Gansu province, two academic leaders of research institutes of Gansu province, two part-time mentors of Postgraduate Student of Northwest Normal University, three visiting scholar of The Western Light, the National registration consulting investment engineers, Certified safety engineers, Registered construction engineers, certified tax agents and clean production Auditors.

Now, our discipline constructions are mainly focused on the fine chemical and civil explosive. The major research directions of fine chemical discipline are the research of functional polymer, special monomer, pharmaceutical intermediate and fluorine containing fine chemicals; and the main research directions of civil explosive discipline are the designing, consultation, training and technical service of blasting engineering and the service of oilfield technologies.

Up to now, we have established and well operated a series of institutions, including: Innovation Platform Of Gansu Province For The Synthesis Method And Engineering Technology Of Fine Chemicals, Technical Center of Fine Chemical Industry of Gansu Province, Productivity Promotion Center of Gansu Province for Fine Chemical Industry, Engineering Technology Research Center of Gansu Province for Pharmaceutical Intermediates, Engineering Technology Research Center of Gansu Province for Civil Explosion, Productivity Promotion Center of Gansu Province for Civil Explosion, Research Innovation Team of New Explosion Technology of Oil-Gas Well, Technical Innovation Team for the Development and Industrialization of Pharmaceutical Intermediates and Research Innovation Team of Environment-Friendly Acrylic (Acrylate) Polymers. Especially, Innovation Platform of Gansu Province for the Synthesis Method and Engineering Technology of Fine Chemicals has been authenticated as the Demonstration Platform of Public Service of China for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Demonstration Platform of Public Service of Gansu Province for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, and Demonstration Platform of Public Service of Lanzhou City for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. Moreover, we also founded Breeding Base of Key Laboratory of Fine Chemicals of Gansu Province, Demonstration Base of Northwest Normal University----Gansu Research Institute of Chemical Industry for the Joint-Training of Postgraduates of Applied Chemistry, and teaching practice bases cooperating with 9 universities of Gansu Province for undergraduates.

As yet, we have finished more than 185 provincial and ministerial research projects, and we have obtained more awards. Those awards including four Second prizes of technical advancement of Gansu province, two Third prizes of technical advancement of Gansu province, four Good new product & technology awards of Gansu province, one First award of Science and Technology of CSEB, one Second prize of technical advancement of Lanzhou city and one Third prize of technical advancement of Lanzhou city. We have obtained 14 Authorized patent technologies and 233 published academic papers.
